Well I know, but so far I haven't come across a problem while restoring the system (I already had to do it 3 times) so in simple words, it works quite well for me. For other users specifically with other OS's like Windows, it's a different story. You need to use 3rd party software and set it up your self. While I'm not going to suggest which software to use, I will just give an idea which type of backup you should use.
There are three types as most of you would be aware of:
- Full backup
- Differential backup
- Incremental backup
Full backup
This is a backup that stores all data from your computer and is the slowest but on the other hand it will restore data fastest from the other types of backup and will need most of the space.
Differential backup
This type of backup is a backup of all changed and new files since the last full backup. It is faster than full backup but restores slower and needs less space than full backup.
Incremental backup
This last type of backup is a backup of all changed and new files since the last backup. It is the fastest to back up data but slowest in restoring the data, but uses the least space out of all three.
So which one to choose ?
Everyone got different needs and opinions. For some of you full backup is perfect option as you may choose to backup every x number of days and you have plenty of storage. Other will have more gigabytes of storage and choose to backup everyday, so probably the differential backup will suit you and the rest of you who wants to backup numerous times a day and have least storage space then the incremental backup type will definitely play along. Of course there will be some different opinions from other experts but thats the way it goes. You simply have to choose your self, this is only an explanation and guidance so you will have some clear understanding of these types.
